As you put the polish on your Level 3, you will see why so many of the things that we instigated in Level 1 were so important, the thread that we followed in Level 2 and finally their conclusion in Level 3. In fact, the further you go, the more you will see similarities between the more advanced levels and Level 1. How we started out, what kind of foundations we laid, will determine how we end up. This is as much true for us as it is the horse!
This is why horsemanship is about the entire picture. Each level has its own merits and wonderful things to learn, however they are about far more than that. Each is an important part of the whole; a stepping stone if you like. Everything stems from somewhere and leads onto something else. This is true knowledge, true horsemanship, true communication. If something has nowhere to go and no way to build, it’s just a trick.
“In this programme, everything has a reason for being and a place to go.” – Shane Ransley
It’s important to finish what you start. Some people get so wrapped up and so excited about Level 1 and what they have learnt, that they spend all their time getting all of their horses to Level 1. We encourage you to take one horse to Level 3 first, so that you can see the complete picture; become a horseman so that you know where all the things we teach you are leading, and then go back to other horses. You will get there so much quicker and be able to nip any potential problems in the bud as you’ll recognise them sooner.
